Caroline Leisegang, South Africa’s youngest classical composer, has just been selected by iTunes for the ‘Best Of 2015’ Award for Best Classical Album in 2015.
This achievement is fantastic news for the first time composer, having released her debut album Oyeblikk only two months ago to critical acclaim in the media.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes chart on release date and since then has held on to top positions, making Caroline one of the most watched classical artists around.
Caroline’s began composing her debut album Oyeblikk whilst studying at the prestigious Trinity Music College in London, where she worked alongside some of the finest classical and score composers. Obsessed with her Norwegian ancestry, Oyeblikk translates to the English word ‘moments’ and is emblematic of her state of mind when writing pieces in either her London or Johannesburg home.
Now, back in her hometown of South Africa, Caroline is composing and performing once again as she celebrates the release of this masterpiece.
The coolest new addition to the cultured world of Classical music, Caroline is also one of the countries only classical composers ever to release an album penned entirely by ear, raising the bar not only in her home country, but in the rest of the musical world with this world-class release.
Go experience Oyeblikk on iTunes now.
