A collaboration that aims to “wow” and excite fans and audiences, Ntombethongo and Ancestral Collective present Amagamakho. Having performed in iconic stages across Africa and Europe, Ntombethongo together with Ancestral Collective are “bringing it back to the city” and geared up to captivate and capture audiences through his ever electrifying stage presence, colorful beaded costumes as well as commanding singing voice that has been engaging audiences around the world for over a decade at the iconic and historical Constitutional Hill.
Through partnering with Ancestral Collective for the launch of Amagamakho, the singer who is incredibly skillful in his instrumental work, aims to empower audiences and send strong messages across about collective collaboration and the elevation of African talent and culture as well as deliver the long anticipated album. The traditional Xhosa music singer affectionately known to aficionadas as the ever theatrical Transkandi (a cross between Transkei and Maskandi sounds) singer and traditional healer has expressed a great level of excitement for this album launch having performed for Ancestral Collective’s audience in the past.
“Having given platforms to the iconic likes of Thandiswa Mazwai, HHP, Tsepo Tshola, Bhudazza and Apollo Ntabanyane to name a few, I am honored to partner with Ancestral Collective yet again and be afforded the opportunity to showcase to the world once again the richness of our African sounds” says Ntombethongo who was also part of the performers at Ancestral Collective’s Lifaqane Mfecane music festival.
Through their first event hosted at the historical Thaba Bosiu cultural village in Lesotho which represented audiences and performers from across the continent, Ancestral Collective has been a promoter and thought leader for the indigenous arts and indirectly affecting other industries such as domestic tourism and cultural interactions between artists of different backgrounds.
The successful pilot festival which marked a century since Lesotho gained its independence, was compliment to the core values of the NPO dedicated to crafting collaborative and mutual platforms where Africans and the world learn more about Africa’s collective cultural wealth and talent.
Ancestral Collective managing director Lereko Ntshona says “Ancestral Collective has been contributory in sending very unique, engaging and diverse messages to Africans and beyond on the richness that our continent has to offer as far as our talent is concerned”
Audiences can look forward to yet another soulful performance by Ntombethongo and have their “spirits awakened to live a purposeful life” by yet another Ancestral Collective initiative and be wowed by Ntombethongo’s latest offering.
