Powerade Hosts Exclusive Performance Academy for High School Coaches
Powerade are continuing their endeavour of supporting, motivating and inspiring South African athletes to reach the pinnacle in performance through the Powerade Performance Academy.
The Powerade Performance Academy focuses on South African High School coaches, recognising their role as primary influencers of the next generation of South Africa’s sporting heroes. The continued evolution of sports performance includes state-of-the-art training programs, executed through high level coaching methodologies.
To ensure that our athletes are equipped with the mindset to persevere through some of their toughest sporting moments, Powerade have teamed up with renowned sporting and mental coaching professionals as well as performance experts, to bring the Performance Academy to Johannesburg.
Former South African cricket coach and player, Paddy Upton, will lead the programme as the Ambassador of the Powerade Performance Academy. Upton has been on both ends of the spectrum – having experienced the pressure of being a coach and being coached. As a former Performance Director of the South African cricket team from 2011 to 2014, Upton is perfectly positioned as this year’s Powerade Performance Academy Ambassador.
“Powerade is thrilled to be at the forefront of inspiring coaches to motivate their athletes. Performance is something that resonates with Powerade, and we believe in creating platforms where coaches can receive the best advice and coaching tips to take back to their athletes,” says Sapna Naran, Powerade Brand Manager.
Paddy will be joined by Referee Talent Development Coach, Craig Joubert, Head of Performance Sport and Medical for Team Dimension Data, Dr Carol Austin, and Robin Banks, a world renowned motivational speaker and expert on aspects of Mind Power and Personal Mastery.
“I’m delighted to be a part of the Powerade Performance Academy. I strongly believe that modern-day best-practice in sports performance shouldn’t only be for the top-end performers, but should also be accessible for coaches at school levels,” says Upton.
South African adventurer and motivational speaker Sibusiso Vilane will also be present as a guest speaker, while rugby and football analyst Neil Andrews will host the Academy.
“The coaching landscape in South Africa has evolved in recent times, which is something that’s really pleasing. I’m excited about what this year will bring as performance is integral in the development of young athletes” adds Upton.
All the experts will ensure that the rising generation of born sportsmen will be taken through a series of sessions addressing the various spheres of performance. These will range from player focused coaching sessions, to dealing with pressure and overcoming the challenges that come with staying at the top of your game.
This year, the exclusive coaching sessions will be hosted in Johannesburg on 21-22 October 2017, encompassing youth coaching representatives from across the country.

This year, the need for radical transformation has been highlighted by government, in order to address the country's vision for an inclusive economy and non-racial, non-sexist society. Transformation and empowerment are part of South Africa's reality and are necessary if we are truly to address the legacy left by apartheid.
This year, the need for radical transformation has been highlighted by government, in order to address the country’s vision for an inclusive economy and non-racial, non-sexist society. Transformation and empowerment are part of South Africa’s reality and are necessary if we are truly to address the legacy left by apartheid. The new B-BBEE Codes are part of government’s latest attempts to make sure that transformation of our economy happens in a meaningful yet expedited manner – but, to transform effectively, businesses need clarity of action.
Here are three pointers for practical and beneficial transformation:
1. Integrated strategy development and implementation
The first step is identifying the approach you want to take to accelerate transformation in your organisation. ‘Transformation’ means different things to different companies – as the leader of a company, you need to decide what it means for yours: organisational restructuring, new products or services, a breadth of diversity (race, age, gender and backgrounds), etc. – and how these aims can best be realised. Vivian Reddy, Founder & Chairman of the Edison Power Group, a catalyst in addressing some of South Africa’s biggest socio-economic problems, created a transformation strategy that has proven a success for more than 2 000 employees. Reddy will deliver a presentation at the 2017 Top Empowerment Conference on the strategic roadmap to transformation success.
2. Innovation and technology
A company’s ability to adapt to new technologies is a powerful modus operandi for organisational success and employee growth. In this digital age, emerging technology not only provides value to these organisations but to their customers and stakeholders by extension. Information Technology continues to transform all aspects of both our private and business lives. Investing and training your employees in advanced technology will equip them with the skills and ability to compete on a national or global scale. Multichoice, a 2017 Top Empowerment Award finalist, is of one of many South African companies at the forefront of skills development in innovation and technology, having employed over 40 information IT graduates and awarded employees access to 300 customised online courses.
3. Open communication channels
Your transformation strategies and plans need to be communicated and relatable to all employees and key stakeholders who will be affected by changes. This will allow access to a two-way dialogue whereby issues will be raised and suggestions can be put forward, making your transformation journey fully inclusive. Research shows that higher levels of employee and stakeholder involvement in key decision making generate greater levels of employee motivation and satisfaction. In larger companies, a holistic change management programme can be beneficial to ensure a smooth and productive transformation journey. Nceba Ndzwayiba, Transformation Manager at Netcare – a company that trail-blazed transformation will present a case study detailing the aftermath of successfully transforming an organisation.

Life Masters’ CEO, Tony Dovale, recently announced the launch of his Revolutionary Workplace High Performance (HPO) System to help managers and leaders develop staff and optimise teamwork, trust, leadership effectiveness, and organisational culture.
Dovale said, “The CLEARx HPO Framework is based upon 40 years of development and refining to create #FutureFit people and deliberately developmental High-Performance workplaces that support People, Planet & Profits.”
The new Revolutionary Workplace High Performance Organisation (HPO) framework, and REAL team building action learning process, Team-Flow-Grow, enhances Psychological Capital, reduces racism and conflicts, and empowers LIMITLESS leadership on every level, to deliver exponential results.
The proven CLEARx 6 pillar HPO Framework promises to help people, teams and leaders to increase their culture, performance and productivity, whilst supporting People, Planet and Profits.
The Revolutionary Workplace is the outcome of extensive research and hundreds of hours of hands on refinement in the workplace, helping companies to become Deliberately Developmental Organisations #DDO’s.
Tony Dovale has spent more than 4 decades in research, development and REAL team building transformation facilitation, in order to create an efficient and advanced solution, that address the needs and concerns of companies, when it comes to optimizing their human element, productivity and performance.
Life Masters is releasing the Revolutionary Workplace High Performance System globally, and making their Conscious Deliberately Developmental philosophy and approach available to coaches, consultants and leaders globally.
“The Revolutionary Workplace system is a people, team and leadership building process designed to support and optimise the entire organisation, with a focus on ensuring support for the new Circular Economy; that empowers and supports the big three; people, planet the profit. “Dovale says.
Considering that more 2/3 of people are disengaged inside the workplace, things like chronic stress, culture mess, duress, conflicts and racism are rife across the globe.
Therefore, there is a big need for a much more efficient, constructive and human positive approach. Thus the need for The Revolutionary Workplace system.
In a world where technology and Artificial Intelligence is making its way into every corner of business, We still have a world with more than 7,5 billion people, and growing, who need some way to create a practical and sustainable lifestyle. Business must be re purposed as a force for good., beyond just profits for shareholders.
The HPO philosophy, framework and system, is about creating a world that cares. The Revolutionary Workplace addresses all the main aspects such as :
• Culture & Creativity
• Limitless Leadership
• Energy and Engagement
• Appreciative Action & accountabilities
• right mindedness, Resilience, Relationships
• eXecution towards eXcellence
Says Dovale, “Life Masters is creating opportunities for managers and leaders to learn more, or give the Revolutionary Workplace Process, a test run to evaluate its impacts and effectiveness, via their talks and Team-Flow-Tainment Team Building workshop sessions.
Life Masters has been able to help people, teams and leaders to increase their performance and productivity results by up to a factor of 2x to 4x at times.
The future belongs to companies who are #FuturFit today. It belongs to companies who care really about People, Planet and Profits. Any other approach is unsustainable and selfishly naive.
