Joburg’s Newest Gourmet Eatery is a Roasting Revolution!

Roasting Jacks is the first gourmet chicken restaurant which specialises in rotisserie chicken dishes. Tantalise your taste buds with their succulent food, with a wide variety of fabulously creative and equally tasty side dishes that make for something deliciously different, in contemporary dining, for Joburg’s discerning Foodies. The bistro recently opened at the revamped Wedge Shopping Centre, Rivonia, and is open for lunch and dinner.

Roasting Jacks is a premium restaurant whose distinctive menu was carefully crafted and hatched to life at the end of 2018. The French influence makes for classy comfort food – with a family style dining ambience! Chicken fans will be spoilt for choice and surprised by the unique and sensational flavours.

The restaurant is spacious and airy with high ceilings, where modern meets classic design making the venue eclectic, comfortable and premium. Roasting Jacks has a great vibe and the serving team are exceptional, knowledgeable and passionate about the food they serve!

Rotisserie chicken is the star on the Roasting Jacks menu, when accompanied by a freshly baked baguette, spicy corn slaw or the unforgettable blooming onion served with Roasting Jacks sublime homemade mayo, you will never eat chicken any other way or anywhere else! Whether you are looking for something healthy to eat or a full chicken for the family’s Sunday lunch gathering, the choice is wide and food delicious.

A few stand out dishes to make a trip to Roasting Jacks for:

Succulent whole, half or quarter rotisserie chicken
Taste the blooming onion, which is a whole onion, deep-fried – delicious Their salads are extraordinary, the caesar salad comes with pastry puffs and the corn, chicken & avo salad has crispy chickpeas (vegetarians can order the salads without chicken and they are just as filling)
A choice of mouth-watering chicken burgers, of course!
The espresso brownie is a slice of heaven on earth!
The famous gingerbread milkshake will stun you into silence
Plus, the carefully selected coffee beans, hand-crafted freezos, beer and wine selection.

Roasting Jacks Signature X-Factor…

Their X-Factor is definitely the fact that their delicious chicken is cooked to perfection on the in-house rotisserie – this means, it isn’t pre-cooked for convenience – and the meat is tender on the inside with a crisp perfectly spiced skin which will leave you wanting more.

One can see the effort and passion that has gone into ensuring a wonderful dining experience and that every sense has been attended to! Make your next lunch or dinner date, friends’ night out or meeting at Roasting Jacks. Prepare to tantalise your taste buds!

Did you know this about Johannesburg? Johannesburg is the home of Kwaito music, a catchy genre of African house music that was born in the 90s and has become a South African phenomenon. It is most famous for its catchy lyrics that embody post-apartheid township culture.

The Maboneng Precinct: Architecture

Maboneng is architecturally distinct because it rejects the “demolish and rebuild” philosophy. Instead, it embraces adaptive reuse. The Bioscope, South Africa’s only independent cinema, operates out of an old industrial space; The Living Room is a lush rooftop oasis that offers panoramic views of the skyline from atop a concrete shell; and the Museum of African Design (MOAD) was housed in a massive 1970s warehouse. This aesthetic—exposed brick, industrial steel, and vibrant street art—has become the visual shorthand for “cool” Johannesburg. The murals here are particularly significant; they aren’t just decoration but are often massive social commentaries by local and international street artists like Faith47 and ROA, turning the very walls of the city into a public gallery.

However, Maboneng is also at the center of a complex debate regarding gentrification and social integration. Critics argue that while the precinct is a “bubble” of safety and creativity, it often stands in stark contrast to the surrounding poverty of the inner city. The challenge for Maboneng has always been how to be an engine for economic growth without alienating the residents who lived there during the “dark” years. In response, many initiatives within the precinct focus on local entrepreneurship, such as the Market on Main, which provides a platform for local food vendors and designers every Sunday.
