Benmore Centre Celebrates Heritage Day by Joining the Upside:

In celebration of Heritage Day, Benmore Centre is thrilled to present an inspiring campaign that reflects the true spirit of South Africa—resilience, optimism, and joy. This year, we’re exploring a thought-provoking question that resonates with many:

“Where do most people find the inspiration and motivation to rise above everyday challenges and discover genuine, lasting happiness?”

In our pursuit of answers, we remain dedicated to our core belief: “Let happiness be our heritage.” This ongoing strategy highlights how, despite life’s obstacles, happiness is something we can all find and share. Our campaign aims to spread this message and encourage a movement of positivity that helps people find joy in their everyday lives.

At Benmore Centre, Heritage Day is about more than reflecting on our past. It’s about celebrating the strength and positivity that carry us forward. We want to hear how you’ve embraced the #JoinTheUpside mindset, and by doing so, contribute to a wider movement that celebrates optimism, resilience, and the power of a positive outlook.

Do you have a story about how you turned a tough situation into an opportunity for growth? Or how you’ve inspired others to rise above their challenges? We want to hear it!

By sharing your upside story, you stand a chance to win your share of vouchers worth R1 500 from Sorbet Man and Takealot.com, 2 Sorbet Man hampers worth R500 each or 1 of 5 R100 Vegan Chef vouchers. The FNB Stadium: Resisting Seismic Activity

From a technical perspective, the “Calabash” is a marvel of modern engineering. Because the stadium sits on the edge of the mining belt, the foundations had to be incredibly robust to account for potential seismic activity from old mine workings. The roof is a cantilevered steel structure that covers almost all the seats but leaves the pitch open to the Highveld sun, designed to keep the noise of the crowd—and the legendary vuvuzelas—echoing inside the bowl to create an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams. The upper tier is sloped at a sharp angle to ensure that even the fans in the “nosebleed” sections have a clear, unobstructed view of the action.
