#BetterTogether Mindset can help entrepreneurs flourish

18 November 2019 by Alan

MyPR: #BetterTogether Mindset can help entrepreneurs flourish:

Entrepreneurship is vitally important to the economic and social development of South Africa. In fact, the most competitive nations are those that have the highest level of entrepreneurial activity – they also tend to be the greatest creators of jobs which has a multiplying effect on the economy. This Global Entrepreneurship Week (18 – 24 November), Orange Ink celebrates those who have unleashed their talents, turned their ideas into reality and are pushing to take their business to the next level.

Says Candice Luis, Business Director at Orange Ink; “Growing and accelerating entrepreneurs in South Africa is critical and supporting and encouraging the next generation of entrepreneurs to start their own businesses or grow their existing business is something that lies at the core of the Orange Ink brand, an agency built with local entrepreneurial spirit and passion. It’s for this reason that, this Entrepreneurship Week, we are giving back to the local community by providing free brand consultancy and marketing advice to identified small businesses to equip them with the necessary tools and knowledge to take their business forward.”

Calling all small businesses
Orange Ink is calling on all small businesses in the Johannesburg area that want to boost their business’s brand, PR and marketing efforts. The agency is offering a free brand audit and consultancy service to two lucky start-up businesses to help them understand their audiences, how to communicate effectively, how to use social media to their advantage and how to maximise their marketing spend – critical when operating in a tight economy.

“Specialised marketing efforts can help create awareness among potential clients if your business is just starting out, but if you are already recognised, it’s time to take your marketing to the next level, ahead of the New Year.”

How to enter:
• In a short motivation (200 words or 1 min video), nominate a small business that you believe has the potential to grow, make a difference in the community or is providing a unique service you believe consumers should know about. You could also nominate your own business.
• Send your motivation to info@orangeink.co.za with the subject line: #BetterTogether and the name of your business before the cut off deadline of midnight on the 31st December 2019.
• Follow Orange Ink on Twitter and Instagram – where the winners will be announced on Monday 13th January 2020.

The Prize:
• 2 x businesses will be afforded the opportunity to consult with Orange Ink brand and media specialists with regards to their brand positioning and marketing. Orange Ink will dedicate 5 hours of consultancy time to each business during the month of January – imparting key skills, advice and strategic direction.

“#BetterTogether is really about building an eco-system that inspires communities and small businesses to collaborate, share networks and markets and help rising start-ups thrive and that is exactly what we are hoping to achieve. There is a strong movement to support small businesses and as an agency we are committed to supporting those on their entrepreneurship journey – after all, together we can go further,” concludes Claudia Ferguson, Business Director at Orange Ink.

Did you know this about Johannesburg? Johannesburg is the world’s largest city not built on a coastline, or on a lake or river. That’s why Joburg is also called the world’s biggest ‘dry port’. More than half of the cargo that arrives through the ports of Durban and Cape Town arrives at the container terminal at City Deep.

Museum Africa: Challenges

As of 2026, Museum Africa also stands as a symbol of the challenges facing urban heritage in a developing megacity. For years, the museum has battled with funding shortages and the physical toll of maintaining a century-old industrial building. Heritage activists and the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation have frequently stepped in to advocate for the protection of its “at-risk” archives, which include invaluable architectural drawings of the city’s early skyline. Despite these struggles, the museum remains a vital “cultural bedrock.” It sits adjacent to the Market Theatre, where the “protest theatre” of the 1970s challenged the regime, and overlooks Mary Fitzgerald Square, the historic site of labor strikes and political rallies. Museum Africa is not a polished, sterile “white cube” gallery; it is a gritty, honest, and deeply layered institution that mirrors the resilience of the Newtown district itself.
