Boxer Super Run Joburg Entries Open 27 August – Get Ready to Run!

25 August 2026 by Con Tributor

The countdown is on! Entries for the much-anticipated Boxer Super Run Joburg, taking place on Sunday, 15 November 2026, officially open on Thursday, 27 August 2026, giving runners the green light to secure their place in one of Joburg’s most exciting 5km experiences.

Building on the event’s growing popularity, the 2026 edition will welcome an increased field of 5000 participants, while the entry fee will remain an affordable R100, unchanged since the event’s inception, making it easier for even more runners to experience the excitement of this much-loved 5km event.

The Boxer Super Run is a high-energy 5km road running event that brings together runners of all abilities, from elite athletes and serious runners to social runners, walkers and first-time participants. Launched in Durban in 2023, the event combines competitive racing with a fun, inclusive and family-friendly race-day experience.

Welcoming the opening of entries, Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, says the countdown to race day is now officially underway:

“We’re excited to open entries for the 2026 Boxer Super Run Joburg and invite runners, walkers, families and friends to secure their place for what promises to be an incredible 5km experience,” says Meyer. “The Boxer Super Run has grown into a celebration of movement, community and fun, and Joburg is the perfect stage for that energy. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, taking on your first 5km or simply looking for a great day out, there’s a place for everyone on the start line. We look forward to welcoming thousands of participants on Sunday, 15 November and creating another memorable Boxer Super Run experience in the city.”

Sharing her excitement about the return of the event, Lee-Ann Pillay, Head of Marketing at Boxer Superstores, says the Boxer Super Run is all about bringing people together through movement:

“We look forward to seeing the Boxer Super Run come to life again in Joburg,” says Pillay. “The Boxer Super Run is about making movement accessible, enjoyable, and exciting for everyone, and we love seeing people from all walks of life come together for a 5km event. With entries opening this week, we encourage runners to get their friends, family, and colleagues together and secure their spots immediately. Tickets for the Durban event sold out in under a week, so don’t delay – get your tickets early to avoid disappointment and look forward to an unforgettable day in Joburg.”

Constitution Hill: Great African Steps

One of the most moving features of the site is the Great African Steps, a walkway that runs between the dark, stone walls of the Number Four prison and the transparent glass of the new court. It represents the “bridge” between the old South Africa and the new. At the top of these steps, tucked into one of the four remaining stairwells of the demolished Awaiting Trial Block, burns the Flame of Democracy. Lit by Nelson Mandela in 2011 to mark the 15th anniversary of the Constitution, this perpetual flame serves as a constant reminder that the light of freedom must never again be extinguished in Johannesburg.
