Bundox Expands Multi-Experience Safari Travel Across Southern Africa

18 August 2026 by Con Tributor

GREATER KRUGER, South Africa, 18 August 2026, Bundox Safari Co. has introduced its Live Wild Packages, a collection of multi-day safari journeys that combine wildlife viewing with conservation, walking trails, retreat experiences, birding and optional extensions across Southern Africa.

The new collection reflects a broader shift in how travellers are approaching safari holidays. While game viewing remains central, visitors are increasingly looking for journeys that combine different experiences, landscapes and activities rather than repeating a similar lodge-and-game-drive format throughout their stay.

The Live Wild Packages currently include Live Wild & Conserve, Live Wild Retreat, Wild Trail & Retreat and Wild Birding Explorer.

Each package is structured around a different travel interest. Live Wild & Conserve brings conservation participation into the safari journey, while Wild Trail & Retreat places greater emphasis on walking and time in the wilderness. Wild Birding Explorer caters to travellers with a specialist interest in birdlife, while Live Wild Retreat combines safari activities with a slower retreat experience.

The collection expands Bundox’s existing safari packages by placing greater emphasis on how the different parts of a journey connect.

Southern African Travel Beyond a Single Lodge

Bundox operates a portfolio of safari lodges and camps in South Africa and Botswana, but the company also operates as a destination management company.

This allows Bundox to support journeys beyond its own properties by coordinating accommodation, transfers, activities, routing and additional destinations across Southern Africa.

For South African and international travel professionals, this creates a more connected way of planning safari itineraries. A Live Wild Package can form the core of the journey, while the wider itinerary can be adapted according to the traveller’s available time, interests and onward travel plans.

The DMC role is particularly relevant for travel advisors, tour operators and safari specialists who want to work with one regional partner across several components of a Southern African journey rather than coordinating each element separately.

PLUS Extensions Add More to the Journey

Selected Live Wild journeys can also be extended through Live Wild Package PLUS options.

PLUS is not a separate safari package. It refers to optional extensions that can be added to an existing Live Wild itinerary.

Current options include the Panorama Route, additional nights or day-trip experiences in Kruger National Park, wilderness stargazing and sleep-out experiences, and South African Winelands getaways.

The extensions are designed to introduce a different destination or style of experience rather than simply adding more nights of similar safari activities.

For South African tourism, this approach also creates opportunities to connect established safari regions such as Greater Kruger with other parts of the country, encouraging travellers to experience more than one destination during the same trip.

Relevance for the Travel Trade

The Live Wild structure gives travel professionals a defined safari product while retaining flexibility around the wider journey.

Travel advisors can use a core package as the starting point, then work with Bundox to add accommodation, ground arrangements and additional destinations according to the client’s requirements.

Bundox also works directly with the travel trade through its agent programme. Travel advisors and tour operators can register as Bundox agents to access its safari portfolio and work with the company on wider itinerary requirements.

Current package information, travel dates and availability can be viewed through the Bundox availability platform.

The Carlton Centre Scale

The scale of the Carlton Centre is difficult to grasp from the street level. It is a massive “superblock” that covers an entire city block, and surprisingly, nearly half of its total floor area is underground. Beneath the street lies a sprawling three-level subterranean shopping mall that once housed over 180 shops and an ice-skating rink (the “Sky Rink”) on the 20th floor that was a legendary social hub for generations of Joburgers. The building’s foundations are equally gargantuan, with concrete piles extending 30 meters down to the bedrock to support the millions of tons of steel and glass above.
