Click Results Publishes Plain-Language Guide to Backlinks for South African Business Owners

19 August 2026 by Con Tributor

Pretoria-based digital marketing agency breaks down one of SEO’s most misunderstood concepts and explains how businesses can start earning the right links.

PRETORIA, South Africa — Click Results has published a new guide explaining what backlinks are, why they matter for search rankings, and how South African business owners can begin building them without falling into common traps. The article is aimed at business owners who have heard the term mentioned in meetings or marketing conversations but have never had it explained in terms that connect to their own business.

Backlinks remain one of the most influential factors in how Google decides which websites deserve prominent placement in search results. Yet for many small business owners, the concept sits in that uncomfortable space between “I know I should care about this” and “I have no idea where to start.” That gap between awareness and understanding often means backlinks get ignored entirely, or worse, business owners invest in the wrong kind and end up doing more harm than good.

The article covers several practical areas, including how search engines interpret backlinks as signals of trust and relevance, why the quality of a link matters far more than the quantity, practical ways to earn genuine backlinks through existing business relationships and local involvement, and a clear warning about paid link schemes that can actively damage a website’s rankings. It also explains how backlinks fit within a broader SEO strategy rather than working in isolation.

One of the guide’s most useful distinctions draws a line between the kinds of backlinks that genuinely improve search visibility and the bulk packages that some providers sell. This difference, the article argues, is critical for business owners to understand before investing time or money in the wrong direction.

The Oriental Plaza: Architecture

Architecturally, the Plaza is a sprawling 17-hectare complex consisting of North and South malls linked by a three-story circular “Grand Bazaar.” But the true magic is in the sensory experience. Walking through the Plaza is an assault of colors and smells: rolls of exotic sari fabrics stacked to the ceiling, the scent of high-quality leather from shoe-repair stalls, and the aroma of toasted spices. It is a place where “bargaining” is an art form—unlike the fixed prices of Sandton, here you engage directly with the owner, often a third-generation merchant whose family was moved from Fietas fifty years ago.

The cultural heart of the Plaza is undoubtedly its food, specifically the legendary World of Samoosas. This small stall has become a local institution, famous for its unique sweet coconut samoosas and its “Nelson Mandela approved” status (the former president was a fan). Near the south entrance, you’ll find a blue heritage plaque marking Red Square. Long before the Plaza was built, this was an open square where the ANC and Communist Party held mass rallies, and where the Defiance Campaign was launched in 1952. The fact that a shopping mall now stands over this revolutionary ground is a poignant reminder of the city’s layered history. The Oriental Plaza didn’t just survive Apartheid; it outlasted the system that tried to use it as a cage, becoming a symbol of the “tenacity and trading ability” that defines the Johannesburg spirit.
