It’s all happening in Boksburg in November with an action-packed two-days at the East Rand Gin & Craft Liquor Festival, in association with Gin Passport SA, taking place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 November.

Featuring over 20 of SA’s top distilleries, 14 local artists, the Rugby World Cup Final and mouth-watering food, the festival will place in the gardens of The Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conference Centre.

Sip on craft gins, vodkas, rum, brandies, whiskies, moonshine, wine and craft beers, while listening to platinum-selling artist, Arno Carstens, and rock-sensation WONDERboom, together with The Black Cat Bones, Club of Suns, Bianca Blanc, Ashton Wheeler, Lindo M, Miss Heidi and the Bar Room Bandits, Zebra, Jacques Mouton, Shotgun Tori and many more.

Sundays at the The Maboneng Precinct

On a Sunday morning, Maboneng is perhaps the most diverse place in South Africa. You will see Ethiopian coffee ceremonies happening next to artisanal gin bars, and Zulu dancers performing in the street while international tourists browse through vintage vinyl. It is a microcosm of the “New South Africa”—messy, vibrant, occasionally precarious, but undeniably alive. It proved that the “City of Gold” didn’t need to dig deeper into the earth to find value; it just needed to look at its own abandoned streets with a bit of imagination.
