GERMISTON: A router or fibre laser bay seldom stops for a big breakdown. More often it waits on a missing collet, a chipped tool holder or a scratched protective lens while someone hunts for a spare. Feature Equipment, a CNC machine dealer with its machine hall in Sunnyrock, Germiston, has put a spares shelf beside its Tool Crib display, stocked with tooling and consumables from AM.CO.ZA.
What sits on the shelf
For automatic tool change routers there are ISO30 ER32 collet chuck tool holders, an ER32 collet set and a wired tool presetter that sets each tool’s length after a change. The router bed side carries moulded T-slot clamping kits and 100 mm clear wire-reinforced dust hose. Fibre laser cells are covered with 1.5 mm double-layer nozzles, a ceramic nozzle holder and QBH protection lenses for Raycus sources.
The thinking behind it is simple. A spare only helps if it is on hand when the old part fails and it fits first time. Clear hose shows a blockage before it spoils a cut, and a spare nozzle on the shelf means nobody carries on cutting with a damaged one.
Buyers can see the shelf at Sunnyrock, or ask a Feature Equipment showroom team in Johannesburg, Roodepoort, Durban, Cape Town, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein or Mbombela to match parts to their machine, spindle or cutting head. New operators are pointed to AM.CO.ZA’s Ambitious Academy online training before their first shift.
