Members of the Benoni Flying Squad arrested eleven (11) suspects and recovered drugs, a motor vehicle and copper cables between Monday, 03 and Sunday, 16 August 2026.
Members patrolling N12 direction Johannesburg on Tuesday the 4th, at around 10:00 pulled over a white Hyundai H100 near Tom Jones offramp. The 35-year-old driver was immediately arrested when copper cables presumed to be stolen were discovered on the vehicle. The cables valued at around twenty thousand Rand (R20 000.00) were booked in as an exhibit and the suspect detained at Benoni SAPS.
On Sunday the 9th the scenario was repeated when members travelling the same route pulled over a white Mercedes ML at around 14:30 at Tom Jones off-ramp. A 34-year-old foreign national was immediately arrested when members discovered twenty-two vacuum-packed see-through bags of dagga in the vehicle. The dagga valued at around forty thousand Rand (R40 000.00) was booked in as an exhibit and the vehicle as used in the commission of a crime.
Thursday 6th, at around 16:30 members assisted Legendary Security with information leading to the arrest of three (03) foreign nationals aged 25 to 40 years at corner Atlas and Mercury Roads, Impala Park. The suspects were detained for possession of a white Hyundai i10 with false registration plates and investigation revealed that it was reported stolen in February 2026 on a Loate case.
Five (05) suspects aged 23 to 40 years were arrested for drug related offences in Kempton Park at Maxwell and Sarel Streets, in Etwatwa at Emaphupheni Extension 14 and in Mocke Street, Daveyton over the various days. Crystal methamphetamine and mandrax was recovered in these separate incidents.
On Sunday 16th a 43-year-old suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of liquor in Voortrekker Road, Brakpan.
Investigation continues.
The suspects appeared and will appear in the local Magistrate’s Courts facing charges of possession of and dealing in drugs and possession of suspected stolen property and vehicle, as well as driving under the influence of liquor.
