16 July 2024 by Alan

Advertorial:
Help Thy Neighbour With Mall Of The South And SOJO:

Continuing with the success of the 2022 campaign and the aim to create a dignified day for our underserved community, providing them with a hot meal, basic clinic services, a warm shower and personal grooming. The day will also include counselling services and words of encouragement from our motivators.

Together with the help of local organisations and businesses, Mall of the South and SOJO Business and Toursim plan to directly impact 1,000 individuals this Mandela Day by providing them with essential services and support.

SOJO is still seeking sponsorship and donations for the following items:

  • Non-perishable food items and Toiletries
  • Dental Care Services
  • Additional Ladies’ Hairdressers
  • Nail Technicians for Basic Manicures and Pedicures
  • DJs and Speakers
  • Motivators
  • Bibles
  • Children’s Items: Backpacks, Toys, Lunchboxes, Juice Bottles, Stationery Packs, and Blankets

We invite local businesses and community members to join hands with us in making a lasting impact this Mandela Day. Together, we can bring hope, dignity, and support to those in need in the south of Johannesburg.

The Randlord Mansions: The View

Another Randlord Mansion masterpiece is The View, the oldest surviving house in Parktown, built for Sir Thomas Cullinan (who gave his name to the world’s largest diamond). These mansions were built with imported teak, Italian marble, and stained glass, often featuring “hunting rooms” filled with trophies from African safaris and libraries stocked with leather-bound classics. They were designed to project a sense of permanent, European-style aristocracy in a city that was, in reality, a volatile and temporary mining camp.
