MyPR: It’s North vs South as Girls’ Teams prepare to battle at the 2022 Twizza Super School Series National Final!:

The competition is heating up in the Girls’ Team Category of the Twizza Super School Series National Final that will take place at the Ruimsig Athletics Stadium (Roodepoort) on Saturday 19 February 2022. Top teams to look out for will include: Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool, Menlopark High School, Prestige College, Helpmekaar Kollege, La Rochelle Girls’ High School, Paarl Girls’ High and Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof to mention just a few.

Launched in 2019, the Twizza Super School Series has very quickly become a highlight on the schools’ athletics calendar and has one clear goal in mind – to crown SA’s best athletics school! There can be only ONE WINNER! The winning school will take home bragging rights for one year!
“The Twizza Super School Series is one of the athletics meetings that our school kids are most excited to compete at,” says Anje Nel (18) from Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool. “I am looking forward to competing against all the other schools. My goal is to win the 400m hurdles. Our team’s goal is not only to win, but also to make new friends from other schools. We will be there to compete for the good of our school and we will do so while supporting the rest of our team.” As an athlete Nel focusses on the 400m hurdles, 100m hurdles and 400m.

Menlopark’s Lesedi Khunou (18) believes that the Twizza Super School Series holds athletes to a high standard, both physically and morally as they compete for the ultimate prize, the title of SA’s best athletics school. “The Twizza Super School Series does a great job at creating ‘genuine heroes,’ whom kids from all over the country can look up to, especially when they hear of the trials and tribulations that they endure just to get to the event, let alone the struggle for gold,” says Khunou. “I always look forward to seeing the spectators come from different destinations to support the sport together. It’s beyond amazing to see that it really is ‘a small world’ after all when people come together and see that we all have more in common than some may think. Our team’s goal is to go for gold, we are the defending champions after all.” Khunou will be seen in action in the shot-put and discus.
For Keisha Mangava (17) from Prestige College it’s an honour to be associated with the Twizza Super School Series. “It’s a privilege to be part of an event of this magnitude in South Africa,” says Mangava. “The talent and atmosphere will have you in awe. I can’t wait to see old friends and witness the enjoyment experienced by children as they are allowed to compete again. I am really looking forward to representing my school in my last year. My goal is to better my personal best in my event, while motivating my team members to become the best girls’ team. Everyone wants to win, but as a team we will aim to give our best in each event and walk off the field with a winning spirit, cheering other teams on – then we are the real winners.” Mangava’s focus is on long jump and triple jump.

According to Zoe Tobias (17) from Paarl Girls’ High School, the Twizza Super School Series is an amazing event that allows athletes to grow and experience athletics at a greater level. “Not only will I support my school, but I will also support my friends from other schools,” says Tobias. “I look forward to the new bonds that we will build with all the athletes but more specifically I look forward to gaining more experience and knowledge in the items that we participate in. Our team’s goal is to grow as a team while doing everything at our full potential.” As an athlete Tobias focusses on long jump and triple jump.

Entry Fee / Students Participating: Entry for competing schools is FREE of charge. Team Managers download the entry form from the event website www.superschoolseries.com. Send the completed entry for to info@superschoolseries.com

Entry Requirements: Each school will be required to enter a team of 15 athletes.

Categories will include: Boys, Girls and Combined Winners’ competition.

Age Group:
In 2021: U15, U17 and U19
In 2022: U15, U17 and U19 (U20 ASA)

Events that can be entered will include: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, short hurdles, long hurdles, long jump, triple jump (U17 and U19), high jump, shot-put, discus and javelin for age groups U15, U17 and U19. The following events are for Age groups U17 & U19 only 3000m & Triple jump and U19 Medley Relay (100m, 200m, 300m & 400m) All events are for Boys and Girls.

What’s NEW: The Twizza Super School Series now boasts an action-packed Open Medley Relay Category for 100m, 200m, 300m and 400m Boys and Girls. This category is guaranteed to add an interesting spin on team selection.
