The 5th annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K will take place this coming Saturday 24 September 2022 (National Heritage Day) and in celebration Event Organizers are inviting runners to join the final 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run that will take place at Marks Park Sports Complex (Emmarentia) on Thursday 22 September at 17:30. It’s race week! The 5th annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K will take place this coming Saturday 24 September 2022 (National Heritage Day) and in celebration Event Organizers are inviting runners to join the final 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run that will take place at Marks Park Sports Complex (Emmarentia) on Thursday 22 September at 17:30.

“We’re excited to welcome runners to the final Demo Run, the 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run #4 that will take place on Thursday,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series. “Runners will have one last chance to #WearTest PUMA’s newest range of PUMA NITRO running shoes before race day. The Demo Run is also a fun opportunity for the RUN YOUR CITY Series Community to come together, enjoy a 5km run and stand a chance to win fantastic prizes compliments of PUMA South Africa. Runners can look forward to enjoying the perfect leg-loosener as we build up to the 2022 Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K. Jozi get ready to #RunYourCity!”

The 5K PUMA NITRO Demo Run #4 is open to runners of all ages and is free of charge, but runners do need to sign up. Be sure to arrive early to secure your desired pair of PUMA NITRO Running Shoes. PUMA’s technical team will also be on hand to answer product related questions and offer support

Museum Africa: The Memory of the Market

Long before it was a sanctuary for artifacts, this building was the Johannesburg Municipal Fruit and Vegetable Market, completed in 1913. At the time, it was an architectural marvel of the industrial age, featuring a massive, vaulted roof supported by reinforced concrete and steel—a design intended to keep the produce cool in the biting Highveld sun. The site was chosen for its proximity to the railway lines, allowing fresh goods from across Southern Africa to be funneled directly into the heart of the city. For decades, it was a place of frantic, multi-racial commerce where the air was thick with the smell of citrus and the shouts of auctioneers. In 1994—the same year South Africa held its first democratic elections—the market was transformed into Museum Africa, symbolically turning a site of physical sustenance into one of intellectual and historical nourishment.
