Little Falls, Roodepoort Gets a New Coffee Spot as tiMe@Pick n Pay Opens at the Falls

28 October 2026 by Con Tributor

With the official opening of tiMe@Pick n Pay The Falls on 23 October 2026, there’s a new reason to make a coffee stop at The Falls Shopping Centre. The new, full-service café, the third tiMe@Pick n Pay outlet to open in South Africa, offers customers quality barista-made coffee, delicious food, and a comfortable place to recharge.

Conveniently located within Pick n Pay at The Falls, the tiMe café encourages shoppers to enjoy some well-deserved ‘me tiMe’ before or after the weekly grocery shop. Or ‘any tiMe’ in between. The opening follows upgrades to The Falls Shopping Centre and the newly renovated Pick n Pay store, making the new tiMe café a natural addition to the refreshed customer-centric shopping experience.

Bringing a little ‘me tiMe’ to Little Falls, Roodepoort

tiMe@Pick n Pay The Falls has been designed to bring quality coffee, delicious food, and a convenient café experience for customers at accessible prices. ‘Quality Taste, Great Value, Everyday’ is evidenced by the professionally trained baristas who serve a bespoke coffee blend that is locally roasted and sourced from sustainable coffee plantations around the world.

Coffee lovers can look forward to classic favourites such as cappuccinos, flat whites, lattes, cortados and espressos, with decaffeinated options also available. Patrons can customise their drinks with alternative milks, flavoured syrups, and extra espresso shots.

With summer heating things up, there are plenty of cooler drink options to explore, too, including iced coffee lattes, Freezochinos, fruit smoothies, protein smoothies, and craft sodas. Those looking for something a little different can also try boba pearls as an addition to selected drinks.

Hungry? Not a problem! The tiMe@Pick n Pay The Falls menu includes a range of sweet treats, light meals, and savoury favourites. From speciality muffins, brownies and handcrafted Château Gâteaux cake to focaccia toasties, bagels, wraps and sourdough pizzas, the food choices offer that special something to fit every appetite…and shopping schedule!

The Wilds: A Sanctuary of Stone and Steel

The Wilds was officially opened to the public in 1938, carved out of the rocky “koppies” (hills) of the Witwatersrand. Unlike the manicured lawns of the city’s more traditional parks, The Wilds was designed to showcase South Africa’s botanical heritage. It is a vertical garden of sorts, featuring steep stone paths that wind through forests of yellowwood trees, proteas, and ancient cycads. At its highest point, the reserve offers one of the most spectacular views of the Johannesburg skyline, where the brutalist towers of Hillbrow seem to rise directly out of the prehistoric-looking vegetation.

However, like many of Johannesburg’s public spaces, The Wilds fell into a period of deep neglect during the late 1990s and early 2000s. As crime rates rose and the city’s maintenance budgets shifted, the reserve became overgrown and was perceived as a “no-go zone.” The waterfalls stopped running, the stone paths crumbled, and the once-vibrant greenhouse became a skeletal ruin. For nearly two decades, this incredible piece of real estate sat largely abandoned, used only by a few brave locals and the occasional film crew looking for a “wilderness” setting within city limits.
