Johannesburg, 11 August 2023: Scuderia South Africa, the official Ferrari distributor in Southern Africa, is pleased to announce that Smartgrowth Investments Proprietary Limited, with André Rossouw as the Chief Executive Officer, has acquired all the equity of the group. This follows the successful conclusion of negotiations that commenced in November 2022 for the purchase of shares from the company’s previous shareholders.

Moving into the future, André Rossouw brings a wealth of experience, having previously served in several senior management positions in the luxury sports car business over the last 15 years.

Rossouw will steer the company into the future for the benefit of the brand and all its customers.

Scuderia South Africa’s senior management and all members of the team at Scuderia South Africa will continue to serve our customers and friends, ensuring the continuity of the highest level of excellence for which the Ferrari brand is known.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary as the official Ferrari dealer, Scuderia South Africa has extensive plans for the remainder of 2023. Two new models, the Ferrari Purosangue and the Ferrari Roma Spider are set to debut in South Africa in the fourth quarter of this year, further bolstering the line-up of supercars already available to our discerning customers.

The Rand Club: Architecture

The architecture of the Rand Club is a masterclass in colonial opulence and psychological intimidation. Its most famous feature is the main bar, which, at 31 meters long, was for decades rumored to be the longest bar in Africa (and by some accounts, the Southern Hemisphere). It was designed so that a man could walk in, find a spot at the counter, and conduct a million-pound deal without ever having to wait for a drink. The building also features a magnificent Victorian birdcage elevator, a massive stained-glass dome that floods the central staircase with light, and a library that houses one of the most significant private collections of Africana literature and maps in existence.
