Summer is around the corner, and Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is getting Little Falls Resort in Roodepoort ready to welcome families and visitors looking for an affordable day out surrounded by nature.
The swimming pool is scheduled to open for the summer season on 1 October 2026, subject to the appointment of lifeguards and cashiers by the City’s Community Development Department (COMDEV).
The park is open seven days a week from 08:00 to 18:00, while the swimming pool will be accessible six days a week, from Tuesday to Sunday.
Mondays will be dedicated to intensive pool cleaning, water treatment and maintenance, helping to ensure that the pool remains clean, safe and ready for swimmers throughout the summer season.
On pool operating days, swimming starts at 10:00, allowing lifeguards and operational teams time to undertake routine morning inspections and safety checks.
The last admission to the resort is at 16:00, the pool closes at 17:00, and the resort closes at 18:00.
JCPZ has sufficient pool chemicals currently in storage, with an official purchase order already in place to procure additional chemicals required during the summer months.
Affordable summer fun – Little Falls Resort is an entrance-fee facility, with the following tariffs:
- Adults: R70
- Children and school groups: R30 per person
- Students: R30 on weekdays, with a valid student card
- Pensioners: R30
- Welfare groups: R30 per person on weekdays
- Differently-abled persons: R30
- Parking – cars and minivans: R20
- Parking – buses: R30 per bus
- Picnic stalls: R200
The resort is particularly suited to families, with monitored access by lifeguards on duty during swimming hours and security personnel at the facility.
For everyone’s safety, glass bottles and glass containers are not permitted. All liquids brought into the resort must be decanted into suitable non-glass containers. Visitors are also reminded that dogs are not permitted at the resort.
