Results From ULT. X Action Sports Event At Sun City

ULT.X is powered by Suzuki SA and fuelled by Monster Energy. It is The Biggest Action Sports Event On The African Continent

The ULT.X venue, Sun City.

Sun City: Ultimate.X ran a flawless action sports tournament over the weekend at Sun City. It was a great return to the grand ULT.X events of the past and a massive success for all involved and competing. Always one of the most popular events in the Action Sports category, the tournament was awash with some of the best riders in all divisions. The BMX riders flew in from all over the world with the relaxation of flight regulations, and it is well known that these riders love coming to South Africa.

With COVID playing havoc to live events over the last 18 months, it was incredible to see such a gathering of the action sports tribe. There were over 60 of the top Skate / BMX athletes who all flew into Sun City to compete in the African Champs. It has been a while since Sun International has been able to host this event and everyone involved was excited to get this event going. It didn’t disappoint. Top action, riders embarking on some fearless tricks, and everyone pushing their personal limits in their bids for glory.

ULT.X is always a huge opportunity for local African Skaters and BMX riders to test their skills against one another to find out who will stand firm to become the African Skate | BMX Champ 22. The athletes were amped to get going, to compete again and prove to themselves and the spectators that they have the skills and determination to win an event of this stature.

In the Skate event, it was only local skaters who were entered. Monster Energy skater Khule Ngubane showed everyone who’s boss with his win in the Best Trick discipline as well as victory in the Skate Park event. Khule has always been on the cutting edge in local and international skating and was a worthy and stoked victor at ULT.X.

The Maboneng Precinct: A “Place of Light” in the Urban Core

The word Maboneng means “Place of Light” in Sotho, and it is an apt name for a neighborhood that rose from the literal and figurative shadows of Johannesburg’s inner-city decay. Located on the eastern edge of the Central Business District (CBD) in a sub-district once known as City and Suburban, this area was historically a collection of light-industrial warehouses and gritty manufacturing plants. During the 1990s and early 2000s, as capital flight saw businesses flee the city center for the fortified suburbs of Sandton and Rosebank, these blocks became a “no-go zone” characterized by hijacked buildings, crime, and urban flight.
