GAUTENG – Gauteng police have arrested a 44-year-old wanted suspect, Alfred Sello “Long” Magoa, who is allegedly linked to 34 serious cases, including multiple rape cases committed in and around Klipgat, Ga-Rankuwa, Loate and Mabopane.
Magoa was arrested by members of the Gauteng Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Serial and Electronic Crime Investigation (SECI) Unit in the Mabopane area on Saturday, 29 August 2026, following an intensive investigation.
The suspect had been sought in connection with several rape cases, including cases reported in the Moretele area. He is allegedly linked to 34 cases, including rape cases committed between 2008 and 2016 in various areas around Tshwane. It is further alleged that Magoa escaped from lawful police custody in December 2019 and has since been sought by investigators.
The arrest marks a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts by Gauteng police to track down and apprehend suspects linked to serious and violent crimes, particularly crimes against women and children.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 31 August 2026.
