MyPR: St Mary’s to host Hockey Academy for JHB players & coaches:
SA Hockey icons Louise de Jager, former SA Women’s player, Owen Mvimbi, SA Men’s Hockey player, Taylor Dart, SA Men’s Hockey player are some of SA top hockey players who will share their knowledge, skills and expertise, to Johannesburg’s school players and coaches, at St Mary’s School, Waverley on 30 November and 1 December as part of the Investec Hockey Academy courses.
Aimed at fast-tracking the development of school players and ensuring that coaches are up to date with the latest in international training techniques, the Investec Hockey Academy works with former and current, national players and coaches in growing the sport and nurturing upcoming talent nationally.
Travelling to various provinces throughout the year, the Academy offers position-specific and match-specific training as well as behind-the-scenes aspects such as nutrition, recovery and mental toughness in a Fundamental Players’ Course (aged 8 to 11), Intermediate Players’ Course (aged 12 to 15), Advanced Players Course (aged 16 to 18) and Advanced Coaches Course (all coaches).
