The transformation began in 2009 with a single building: Arts on Main. Developed by Propertuity, this converted 1905 construction-and-distribution center became the anchor for what would become a world-class creative hub. It successfully lured back the middle class and the international community by offering something the sterile northern suburbs lacked: authentic urban grit blended with high-end culture. Arts on Main became the studio home of world-renowned artist William Kentridge, whose presence lent the project immediate cultural gravity. Today, the precinct spans several city blocks and is a kaleidoscope of murals, rooftop bars, boutique hotels, and independent cinemas.
