Advertorial:
Tennis SA And American Express To Host Wimbledon Fan Park In Johannesburg: The Amex Tennis Town:

Following the announcement of their multi-year partnership in March 2024, Tennis South Africa (TSA) and American Express are pleased to host the Amex Tennis Town, a fan park during The Championships, Wimbledon 2024. American Express is operated in South Africa through its licensee Nedbank.

The Amex Tennis Town will be held from 5 to 14 July (from 1 pm to around 10 pm) at the Montecasino and will host up to 1500 people per day.

The Amex Tennis Town aims to create a comprehensive fan zone that reimagines the traditional viewing experience by combining live Wimbledon screenings with a range of engaging activities and a food village which will provide a wide range of culinary delights including traditional favourites like strawberries and cream.

An interactive activation area will allow guests to engage with tennis-related activities. Attendees will be able to capture unforgettable moments with photo booths, dive into virtual reality tennis activations, and challenge friends at tennis gaming stations. Tennis enthusiasts will also be able to showcase their skills on a full-size tennis court with interactive coaching lessons.

The Amex Tennis Town will also feature live entertainment from DJs during breaks in play, providing a memorable and entertaining experience.

American Express Card Members will enjoy a 50% discount for entry to the Amex Tennis Town, priority seating at the front of the main viewing screen, 20% off at the Wimbledon Shop, 10% off on food and beverage, and other benefits such as branded gift packs.

Gavin Crookes, President of Tennis South Africa, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, comments: “We are excited to host the Amex Tennis Town, the first TSA-hosted fan park during Wimbledon in South Africa. Our aim was to craft a memorable viewing experience for tennis enthusiasts in South Africa. Bringing together both seasoned and newfound fans in a unique setting seemed like the perfect approach and we couldn’t have done this with a better partner than American Express, who is all about creating extraordinary experiences.”

“American Express has a long history of supporting tennis globally and we are delighted to host the Amex Tennis Town in South Africa. We have been a long standing partner of Wimbledon, and we are excited to provide our Card Members and tennis fans in South Africa with a memorable experience, bringing to life why tennis is better with Amex”, says Briana Wilsey, Vice President, and General Manager of Global Network Services EMEA at American Express.

Tickets are on sale at Ticketpro at R200 for the general public, R50 for children, and free for those under 2. Hospitality tickets are available at R4995 for a VIP premium package. Tickets can be purchased on Ticketpro: Ticketpro Link

American Express Card Members will receive a 50% discount on all tickets, while TSA registered members will receive a 30% discount on all tickets.

The proceeds from general public ticket sales will be directed to Tennis South Africa to support the American Express Tennis Development Programme in developing local communities and nurturing tennis talent.

Additionally, The Sports Trust and the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture have identified Mount View High School in Hanover Park, Western Cape, as the recipient of a multi-sport court.

The Randlord Mansions: The View

Another Randlord Mansion masterpiece is The View, the oldest surviving house in Parktown, built for Sir Thomas Cullinan (who gave his name to the world’s largest diamond). These mansions were built with imported teak, Italian marble, and stained glass, often featuring “hunting rooms” filled with trophies from African safaris and libraries stocked with leather-bound classics. They were designed to project a sense of permanent, European-style aristocracy in a city that was, in reality, a volatile and temporary mining camp.
