The Emerald Opens Phase 6 of Its Hyde Park Sandton Apartments

5 August 2026 by Con Tributor

Spring 2026 is shaping up to be a busy buying season across Johannesburg, and Legaro Property Development has timed its latest move to meet it: Phase 6 at The Emerald is now on the market. The company’s luxury residential estate in Hyde Park, Sandton, expands with this release, bringing a new run of one, two, and three bedroom homes to one of the northern suburbs’ most talked-about addresses.

Set in Hyde Park, The Emerald puts residents close to Sandton’s commercial heart as well as the boutiques, art spaces, and parks that define this pocket of the city. With pricing that starts at R2,399,900, the estate delivers apartments for sale in Sandton shaped by a simple principle: safe, lock-up-and-go convenience that never sacrifices space, daylight, or finish. Every home features an open-plan design, high-end finishes, a private balcony, and tiling throughout, and the ground-floor units come with a private garden of their own.

Rather than breaking from what preceded it, Phase 6 carries forward the benchmark the earlier phases established. Those exploring the latest Hyde Park apartments will discover kitchens fitted with integrated SMEG appliances and a breakfast bar, a private storeroom, and a dedicated secure parking bay for each residence. Everything points to a home that can be lived in immediately, whether the owner is a frequent traveller, a professional wanting to stay near the office, or an investor after a well-sited asset in a stable corner of Johannesburg.

Part of The Emerald’s consistent appeal since launch comes down to security. Perimeter electric fencing, closed-circuit television, and private guards protect the estate, and entry runs through a manned gate equipped with biometric access and facial recognition. That layered system means the whole estate is run as one secure environment instead of a scatter of individual homes, which is exactly what security-conscious buyers are looking for.

Dependable electricity is another factor that keeps weighing on South African buyers’ minds. The Emerald draws on a solar photovoltaic setup backed by an inverter and battery packs, keeping the power on when load-shedding hits. Anyone comparing Sandton apartments will see that pairing of solar generation with battery storage erases one of the most familiar headaches of urban living, while reinforcing the estate’s broader push toward sustainable construction.

What The Emerald offers doesn’t stop at the apartment door. An onsite Lifestyle Centre houses a fully equipped gym, and there are both indoor and outdoor swimming pools. On top of that, residents enjoy exclusive use of the private park on Morsim Road, a peaceful green pocket ideal for everyday walks with pets and family. Amenities like these are a big reason the estate works so well for buyers who want both convenience and a real sense of community nearby.

Location only strengthens the case. As one of the most entrenched addresses in northern Johannesburg, Hyde Park keeps The Emerald within a quick drive of Hyde Park Corner, Melrose Arch, Sandton City, and Rosebank Mall. The Wilds Nature Reserve, Morsim Park, and an array of respected galleries and eateries all sit close by, letting residents enjoy city convenience and quieter surroundings within a small radius.

An award-winning architect stands behind The Emerald’s design, and that care is evident in how each apartment is laid out and finished. Legaro Property has held to the same commitment to architecture and specification through every phase, which helps explain why interest has sustained the estate all the way to Phase 6. Anyone who missed the previous releases now has another chance to buy into the estate.

There’s a financial angle worth weighing too. The Emerald is eligible for green bonds, which can bring lower interest rates, savings over the long run, and rebates for homes meeting recognised sustainability benchmarks. For a buyer thinking about the total cost of ownership across the years, a greener building can deliver tangible savings on top of the environmental upside.

Phase 6’s launch mirrors where the wider Sandton residential market is heading, with secure estate living near the business district still drawing homeowners and investors alike. Developments that pair security, backup power, and shared lifestyle amenities have shown staying power, and The Emerald sits squarely in that group. As the estate matures, every new phase builds onto an existing community instead of beginning from zero.

Phase 6 viewings are open, and the development team is on hand to guide prospective buyers through the available homes, the pricing, and the estate’s facilities. Complete information is available on the Legaro Property website at https://legaroproperty.co.za/.

A variety of home types at The Emerald caters to different buyers. Alongside the one, two, and three bedroom apartments, the estate features a Signature Penthouse and belongs to Legaro Property’s Signature Collection, the developer’s most prestigious residences. With entry starting at R2,399,900, the estate accommodates first-time buyers moving into a secure environment, downscalers after lock-up-and-go simplicity, and investors chasing a well-located rental asset in a suburb built to endure.

Before committing, prospective buyers can dig into Phase 6 in several ways. The team provides a brochure to page through, a SalesMap overview of the estate, and entry to the Developer’s Private Portfolio for anyone weighing a broader range across the Legaro Property collection. Booking a viewing is easy, and the team can cover pricing, available units, and estate facilities all in one visit instead of a lengthy back-and-forth.

For buyers, a sixth phase is a vote of confidence in itself. Estates that keep demand alive across successive releases generally retain their value and grow a stable community over time, and The Emerald has walked that road in one of Johannesburg’s most established suburbs. Every new phase adds homes to a live, occupied estate rather than a speculative plan, which is a large part of the reassurance that comes with buying in.

The Randlord Mansions: Northwards

The most iconic of the Randlord Mansions is Northwards, built in 1904 for the eccentric Jose Dale Lace and his wife, Josie. Sitting on the edge of the Parktown Ridge, the house was constructed from the very quartzite rock it sits upon, making it look as though it grew directly out of the mountain. It featured a minstrel gallery, a massive ballroom, and a view that stretched 50 kilometers north toward the Magaliesberg mountains. The lifestyle inside was Gatsby-esque; Josie Dale Lace was famous for driving through the dusty streets of early Johannesburg in a carriage pulled by zebras. However, the grandeur was often fleeting; the Dale Laces lost their fortune, and the house eventually became the residence of the Chairman of the South African Breweries.
