Cabinmet Ministers Electronic Devices Seized for Investigation

DURBAN – Police in KwaZulu-Natal can confirm that police officers who are members of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit executed a search and seizure warrant granted by the Johannesburg High Court, and seized electronic devices from a cabinet minister at his residence in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, 21 September 2026.

The search and seizure is a normal Investigative process in which police convince the court to grant them the warrant to search and seize particular items as mentioned in the application for the warrant. This is part of an ongoing police investigation on cases of defeating the ends of justice and fraud among other charges which were opened in 2025 at Durban Central police station.

Constitution Hill: Great African Steps

One of the most moving features of the site is the Great African Steps, a walkway that runs between the dark, stone walls of the Number Four prison and the transparent glass of the new court. It represents the “bridge” between the old South Africa and the new. At the top of these steps, tucked into one of the four remaining stairwells of the demolished Awaiting Trial Block, burns the Flame of Democracy. Lit by Nelson Mandela in 2011 to mark the 15th anniversary of the Constitution, this perpetual flame serves as a constant reminder that the light of freedom must never again be extinguished in Johannesburg.
